Let Go

It’s time! It’s time to make big changes in our lives. It’s time to let go of the things that are not helping us. It’s time to clean out our emotional attic, and just let go of the baggage that is weighing us down and stopping us from moving forward.

Our lives often get filled with work, family, and everyday chores. This often leads to feelings of being in a rut or holding on to things that are not allowing us to step forward on our journey. Sometimes we may even feel like we can’t breathe or that we are so stagnant that we just can’t take the next step – that next step that will allow us to make time to do ‘me’ things.

And I’m here to tell you that IT IS TIME. It’s time to make those big changes in our lives. But before we can begin, we need to take a few steps that will help us open to our journey, wherever our path may lead us.

Start each day with gratitude. To some this could be a struggle, but it does make a difference. Begin each day with mindfulness, take the time to center yourself, recognize and appreciate the positives in your life, and breathe in a spirit of gratitude.

Notice the difference. Does this feel different than beginning your day by checking your phone and getting right into your to-do list?

By starting your day with mindfulness and a grateful heart, you will be able to keep this with you throughout your day instead of getting stuck in self-pity and frustration.

Talk to a friend that you can be totally honest with. It’s important to have that one friend that will listen to you unload your dark stuff when you let that funk take over. A trusted friend will support you so that you can quickly move through it.

Most importantly, let go of what you cannot control. All we can control is our own reactions. Breathe in, breathe out, and simply let it go.

Writing is an incredibly cathartic way to process whatever life throws your way. Blog. Journal. Draw.

“Write what disturbs you, what your fear, what you have not been willing to speak about. Be willing to be split open.” ~ Natalie Goldberg

Learn to let go. Learn to split open to feelings of loss. Be ready for whatever is next. Bring a sense of gratitude to even the most difficult of challenges.

Repeat after me:

“Thank you, universe, for seeing me, my potential, and my future as more than a series of mistakes. Thank you for seeing it as a journey of healing and discovery, and for giving me the opportunity to know myself in a different way.”
