Humanity

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.” ~ Mother Teresa

The definition of humanity is the quality of being human. Humanity is the human race which includes everyone on Earth. It is a word for the qualities that make us human – the ability to love and to have compassion. However, it is not just a word that symbolizes human compassion and civilization. It goes beyond the limits of human nature. Humanity is about using hearts along with minds in all attempts of humankind.

Humanity means caring for and helping others whenever and wherever possible. The art of being human means helping others at times when they need that help the most. To be humane means forgetting your selfish interests at times when others need your help.

Unconditional love to each other – to every living being on Earth. That is what humanity – what being human is all about, each and every day. Serving the poor and the disabled is one of the greatest humanitarian gifts an individual can do.

We don’t need robust bank accounts in order to contribute towards humanitarian activities; and they should be performed in order to achieve fame or to gain a status symbol. You can achieve fame by the work you do. Lifting the heavy bag for a disabled person, or helping him cross the street, is humanity. In fact, helping anyone who is in need is humanity.

Humanity begins at home. It spreads across the roads we travel, places we live, and to people we meet.

As soon as we understand the importance of humanity in our day-to-day lives, the purpose for which we are on Earth will be fulfilled. We must inhabit this world with livelihood full of love and harmony. We all have a part in doing this great work, and we must pass this message on to future generations.
